Run Windows basic tweaks and tools
If you need to know that how to speed up computer, you require a periodic maintenance task in your computer. Windows has many tweaks and in built tools that are very useful. All the Windows tweaks and tools are immensely helpful to PC repair tasks. Some of the important are:
Disk Cleanup
Click Start->open Computer or my computer-> Select the drive you want to perform disk cleanup-> Right click and go to the properties->under general tab click Disk Cleanup.
When it scans and shows the temporary and other data select all the check boxes and remove the data.
Disk defragmentation
Click Start->open Computer or my computer-> Select the drive you want to perform disk cleanup-> Right click and go to the properties->under tools tab click Disk defragmentation and it will analyze and start the defragmentation.
Windows file checker utility
Click Start->Run-> Type in cmd and it opens. Now type SFC /SCANNOW and press enter. The process may take several minutes to finish.
Increase physical Memory
A slow computer issue can be occurred due to low physical memory in your computer. Make sure you have installed sufficient RAM in your computer. You may use an additional RAM with your existing RAM if it is not sufficient enough to load the programs into the main memory.
Reduce Windows visual effects
You may add some pace to your computer’s speed by reducing some visual effects. It is easy to perform and can optimize the overall system performance. If you’re continuously experiencing the slow computer issue I would strongly recommend to reduce some Windows visuals.
Click Start->open Computer->Go to properties and select Advance System Settings. Under the Visual effects select the option “Adjust for best performance” Click OK and Apply.
Reboot your computer.
Increase Page file size
Virtual memory is used for loading the application into the memory before they get executed. If it is very low it will affect the overall windows performance while executing the programs. It is also very easy to change and you can do in a minute.
Click Start->open Computer->Go to properties and select Advance System Settings. Under the Advance tab Click on change button. Now appropriately allocate the initial and maximum size of the virtual memory. Click OK and Apply.
Reboot your computer.
Note- At least 1.5 times of the total RAM size can be assigned to the virtual memory.
Repair Windows registry
We do not recommend modify any registry value manually as this involves lot more risks within it. You may use a better and reliable Windows registry cleaner program to fix all your registry related issues.
Use only latest virus definition antivirus programs
Computer virus, spyware, Trojan horse, and other worm are the most dangerous elements for your computer’s security and performance. An old and outdated antivirus or any other security program does not help to remove all the malicious items from your computer. Thus sue the latest virus definition program so that it can detect and remove all the latest released malicious programs.
Eliminate all the unwanted programs from your PC
Too many programs not only occupy the unnecessary space in your hard drive but they consume a lot of system resources as well. Remove all such programs that are of no use for your computer. It is important to remove such program to perform a complete PC repair and to speed up your computer.
Never use more than one antivirus program
If you feel that installing many antivirus programs is a guarantee for security and safety of your computer then you are wrong. More than one antivirus program will conflict with each other, consume unnecessary CPU and other system resources and occupy hard drive space. So never use more than one antivirus program at all. If you are using more than an antivirus program there is no surprise that you may experience the slow computer problem in your system.
